**********WARNING!!!!*******TOYS THAT ARE DANGEROUS FOR YOUR DOG***********
By David Pellerin Loyal K-9 If these are in your house and your dog(s) are chewing them, then pay attention. Listen now and hear me later! Once again dog lovers, here is another one of my long long time old sayings “I told you so!” blogs. At Loyal K-9, we are very proud to say how we are always looking out for your best interest in dogs and treat them like our own. This is one of the reasons why we only take a limited amount of dogs to care for while training. We or I are very anal when it comes to what your dog can have in its kennel during its stay with us as well as a measured amount of food each day. It blows my mind when people show up to my home and I ask them how often do you feed and how much food? They reply “I don’t really have a schedule, I just fill up the bowl and leave it out all day.” That’s another blog on what type of food is good or not. Back to this story. |
Photo OneChew toys. There are so many of them and I reject them back to the client all the time and they always ask why. The rope toys frail and become unraveled and begin to wrap around there intestines and stomach lining and eventually pass away. Squeaky toys and furry animal toys are also bad for your dog. Your dog can swallow the plastic squeaker and or choke on the cloth and cotton as your dog tears it up, not to mention the hygiene and bacteria they build up. So for us here at Loyal K-9 we really only accept a kong balls along with deer, elk or moose antlers.

Photo TwoThis is “Bear”. Bear checked in on July 30 and has been here for dog training. Today is August 11. As we were cleaning the kennels and feeding the dog we came into Bears kennel and noticed some bio vomit with (2) chunks. Upon a closer look, it was still difficult what these objects were. I washed them down and dried them out. I finally saw what they were as soon as they were cleaned off. Hooves! Chew toy Hooves! WE DO NOT HAVE HOOVES on our property, so the investigation started. I took pictures as you can see here and sent them to the client. They replied very grateful and thankful. One of the replies was they were giving Bear hooves before he got to my class and stopped about a week before he got here because he was cracking the hooves into smaller pieces. They did not see or realize if he was actually swallowing them. So the math goes like this. Bear has been here for 13 days and according to the client another 7 days prior to giving the last of the hooves. SOOO, we are looking at a minimal of 20 days these hooves have been inside Bears stomach before vomiting it back up. I hope this is all of it.

Photo ThreePeople! If you have these toys get rid of them! You wouldn’t give your baby a knife to stick into a wall socket or small things to put in their mouths so why are you doing it to your dog? Dogs lives matter, Damnit!
