Welcome to Loyal K-9. My name is David. I've been working with dogs since 1993. I started off as a Military Dog Handler (MWD), then I crossed trained into a civilian narcotics and explosives detection handler. By 1997, I had already completed two K-9 tours in Kuwait and Saudi Arabia. Since then, I have worked as a civilian contractor in Iraq and Afghanistan for about 5 years as an Explosives Detection Dog Handler (EDD), Narcotics Dog Handler (NDD), an Instructor, and a Kennel Master. While taking a break from overseas contracting I was invited to be a K-9 instructor for 27 law enforcement departments in the Northern and Southern California area. I've been able to continue my training and learning from some companies around the area locally, overseas as well as other dog handlers overseas like Germany, Slovakia, the UK, Australia, Philippines, Ireland, and Irish (To name a few) on how to teach families like yours, have basic obedience through Military and Police dog training, along with problem-solving in your home or while out in public. I have seen and been in many situations and learned from the do's and don't of K-9 training and want to pass it on to you and your K-9. Surprisingly, owners just don't have the answers and just don't know how to condition the dog to do what they want. 90% of the time it's the owner’s fault because they just don't know any better. The simple solution for an unruly dog is taking him to the pound, right? That's not right and not fair to your dog. Your dog doesn't know any better because you have not conditioned him to understand. Through our training and programs, we will teach you basic obedience, and train you with love and respect, and control. We will show you problem-solving techniques for you and your dog so that he/she will learn through conditioning and repetitions that unwanted behavior is no longer tolerated. I have put a team together of Certified Master Trainers and we have put together our over 40 years of experience and history of training thousands of dogs and different breeds so that you get the best training program for the best lowest price. We are a small company and that's the great part about it because we don't have any overhead costs so we can pass the low competitive prices and savings on to you. Other companies need to pay for lots of acres of land or 15 trainers, kennel cleaners, etc. At Loyal K-9 we keep it simple and small so the customer is not paying $1,500 or more for the similar training programs we provide. Don't be fooled by fancy websites. Bigger does not always mean better.
I have learned from many great trainers, instructors, books, and authors. But the best learning I got is always been through trial and error. Now I can pass on what really works for you. You don't need to read books and watch videos. I have put all these years of training and knowledge and put together a program for you and your family. The program is so simple that one of our clients at 11 years old can do it with her new buddy, "Simba", the 85lb German Shepard. It’s this simple! "If something works for a dog and they gain satisfaction or reward for that action, they will repeat the action. If the dog is corrected and not rewarded for that behavior, the dog will quickly learn to eliminate that behavior, because it is not comfortable or rewarding."
I am a certified and licensed Canine Behaviorist and Training Specialist and I am registered with the AKC as an evaluator. I was also the ONLY licensed contractor and trainer backed up by the city of Moreno Valley, CA as the only public park trainer. I have been specializing in aggression management and obedience for nearly 20 years. I began my career in the U.S military becoming a dual-certified K9 Handler in 1993. I am certified in Narcotics, Explosives, Bed Bugs, and Patrol and or Attack dog courses. In addition, I also completed over 4 years of working and training on active duty and more currently as an Explosives Handler overseas in Afghanistan. In 2005, I have earned a Kennel Master position in Iraq after completing two tours in Saudi Arabia and Kuwait as a K-9 Handler. In 2008, I came back to America to continue my dream of training dogs and their handlers by becoming an in-home trainer.
Also, I provided training to over 27 Police and Sheriff agencies throughout Northern/Southern California and Las Vegas. I have combined my years of experience and research into a unique training program that can be completed in 2-8 weeks (depending on the program of choice). The typical basic obedience course is completed in either 2 weeks or 3 weeks depending on that program. The program is designed to provide a family household the ability to train their dogs to be obedient and controlled along with protecting their loved ones and valuables. Furthermore, I also volunteered for the Chino Humane society in the past and have completed over 100 K-9 demonstrations for elementary schools, military families (both local and overseas), Boy Scouts, and special police functions. Recently, I have been going to Middle Schools and High Schools to talk about careers in the military, being a dog trainer, and dog safety. I have been training on average 70 dogs a year.
